Then think about where we are right now and look at how far we have come.
We have a very strong and almost, almost complete squad just missing the final few pieces to finish the puzzle.
As far as I am concerned we have more than half our backdone but who are they?
Goalkeepers: Shay Given (present) Joe Hart (future)
Defenders:
Midfielders: Adam Johnson (present) Vladimir Weiss (future)
Strikers: Carlos Tevez (present) Alex Nimely (future)
In my opinion we are lacking in defense with Micah Richards and Nedum Onouha not taking their chances with dips in form and injuries causing most of the problem.
We lack a superstar defender and that is clear to see with our current defensive record. Dont get me wrong Toure and Lescott are doing a good job for us but its just not enough.
We have quite a few promising defenders at academy level, namely Germanys Nils Zander, Switzerlands Frederic Veseli and Englands Sean Tse and Reece Wabara.
We should not be disappointed if we fail to take a Champions League position this season and lets face it, the only reason we along with Spurs and Villa are in the position we are right now is due to Liverpool underperforming.
Next season will be our season without a doubt and it will not be a flirt with European football like Villa and Spurs are so used too.
Next season we will be stronger and I predict a heck of a lot stronger than Arsenal and Liverpool.
Roberto Mancini has done a fantastic job so far, far better than our last four managers atleast so I advise my fellow City fans who are threating to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
Initially it was the media touting us Manchester City for Champions League football and at the start of the season I was expecting a minimum of 5th position, would it be such a bad thing if we ended up 5th this season in your opinion?
Sure it would aid the development of our beloved club quicker, I along with the rest of you hope we do end up in 4th but if we did not then theres next season.
Who cares what opposing clubs and fans think or who cares what they say if we fail to take 4th, their anti City opinions amounted to nothing before and will continue to amount to nothing in the future.
They know eventually we will crack the monopoly so their just getting in as much as they can before its too late.
The future is bright, the future really is blue.
Loosing Roberto Mancini now could promote unrest and disaster for City.
Unless we gained the service of the Special One.
