In terms of stability I'd say yes he is the right manager and lets face it, we have seen our share of managers over the last thirty odd years now have we not.
I also believe he can get us into the Champions League with the squad we have, I believe if we fail it is on the heads of under performing players.
If we were to offload Roberto Mancini now then what are the chances of the next manager in line succeeding? and has Mancini actually failed? how would Mancini's departure affect City?
At present there is only one possible manager I can think of, who would without any shadow of a doubt succeed and he be the self proclaimed Special One.
As far as I am concerned Roberto Mancini has not failed, ok we are out of all Cup competitions but we still have the Champions League to play for and being out of the Cup competitions may be a blessing in disguise.
We are not the finished article as we lack a truely world class defender or two, every single Premier League game leading upto the end of the season will be crucial. If we are to capture such players to complete us then Champions League football will drastically improve our chances of capturing such.
If Roberto Mancini was to depart and this was to have a negative affect on City then we can possibly kiss goodbye any chance of playing European football next season, I am not usually one to play with what if and maybe but then again his departure could prove a positive move with the right manager replacing him.
If Mancini did leave and he was not replaced by Jose Mourinho then I would start to worry, as far as I am concerned Mourinho is the only proven Premier League quality manager in the same league as Sir Bacon Face of Swampy Scaffold.
In terms of progress Manchester City have improved greatly over the past how many seasons, we have a fantastic new owner and a stronger squad than ever, clearly what we lack are some tall and powerful world class defenders.
All in all if Roberto Mancini was to depart I hope atleast it is not until the end of the season, either way I would be happy with Mancini or Mourinho at the helm but for the good of City stability is paramount.
What are your opinions on Mancini and City?
The guy has had the job for 2 1/2 months for crying out loud! How the hell is any manager going to be judged on that? To be honest, I dont want Mourinho at City, I couldn't stand the guy when he was at Chelski and my opinion hasn't changed since. At least Mancini brings a bit of class to City. He's shored up the defence compared to what it was like before, Lescott and Kompany are starting to show a powerful partnership. I think the reason we've not been so adventurous going forward is all the bloody paper talk about him going if we dont make 4th spot, how can he crack on and go for it if h's got to worry about his job?
ReplyDelete2 1/2 months and we're talking about getting shut... bloody rediculous!!!
The Special One will not come to City to work with Cook and Marwood so the danger is it will be another "Brian who ? " moment if Mancini is sacked.Mancini is working to do the best with an average bunch of players - how many City players would have found a place in the Chelsea and Inter Milan teams that played mid week ?
ReplyDeleteTo the first poster, calm down will you and actually read the whole article first before commenting.
ReplyDeleteNo one is calling for Roberto Mancini's head and it was a hypathetical article, I know you have not read it properly as I clearly said I would prefer stability and Mancini to stay but obviously you got it into your head otherwise.
To the second poster, I see where your coming from but the truth is, Marwood and Cooke have no say in what happens at a footballing level so I dont see how they would hinder another manager as they dont even hinder Mancini.
You say average bunch of players as if they are all average, surely you would like to rephrase yourself?.
As far as I am concerned the only under performing players we have are defenders.
