A Tough December For Manchester City, Nolito Rumour Just Doesn't Add Up?
The Premier League fixtures are out and it looks like we have a pretty balanced season until we hit December, meeting Chelsea on the 3rd followed by Leicester City on the 10th, Watford 4 days later on the 14th, 3 days after Watford on the 14th, we play Arsenal on the 17th, Hull city on the 26th and finally Liverpool on the 31st. Other than December the only other tough run is sandwiched between March and April so Pep Guardiola shouldn't have a problem hitting the ground running. Over the last few days we've been linked with Spanish International Nolito currently on International duty with David Silva, two Spanish Journalists Manu Carreño and Quim Domènech Puigbó released statements that Manchester City want to sign the 29 year old Winger. When questioned about the speculation Nolito declared he knew nothing of the interest from Manchester City, that he's only concentrating on Euro 2016. It remains to be seen whether or not this is just another no story but looking at the facts, I just don't see it happening.
The first problem is he's 29 and Manchester City already have enough senior players in our ranks. Next is his transfer fee, Mundo Deportivo are saying Manchester City's offering him a 4 year contract and the release clause from Celta de Vigo is around £14 million. Now 3 and half million per year seems reasonable but, he's 29 and I I just don't see us getting 4 good years out of him. In our clubs experience very few players produce consistently after the age of 31, we could probably count on two hands how many have for us. He's a late bloomer and that also sounds the bell, when we already have a young proven goal scorer in our ranks in Kelechi Iheanacho. I just don't see us signing Nolito, especially considering we are apparently signing Leroy Sane who also can play on both flanks. It makes more sense that we sign younger rather than older. On that note Nolito would be an upgrade on Jesus Navas but, not enough of an upgrade for £14 million so Leroy Sane is definitely the signing for us.

How is Nolito an upgrade on Navas exactly? Your clearly just another Navas hater because based on both players careers Nolito is definitely not an upgrade on Navas, watching them both now Nolito is not an upgrade on Navas either.
ReplyDeleteHow do people especially people who are going to write about City underestimate how much of a contribution Navas makes.
He isn't perfect he panics when he gets time to think, but his overall contribution to games especially last season when we were terrible is more important than some (not all) people realise, his work rate is fantastic he gives his all every time he plays, in a system where we were all about attack his defensive work was very important, crucial in fact, so please think about what your saying when you refer to an upgrade on Navas being someone who has done ok for a couple of seasons and played less than a third of the games Navas has for his country, it's just disrespectful if not ignorant.
You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine, to suggest I hate Jesus Navas is categorically obsurd. I don't hate any of our player past or present, to suggest my opinion is hateful would also be silly.
DeleteAs far as Navas goes I would neither say he has been good or bad for City, in fact to me he's just another James Milner but, even then I am flattering him. Navas barely ever scores but when he does it's spectacular, his end product just isn't good enough and this is where Nolito comes in. The thing Nolito does better than Navas is score goals and if Nolito scores even a third of the goals he's recorded over the last few seasons, then he would make Navas look average. The only problem for me is the combined issue of Nolito's age and transfer fee, I wouldn't pay anymore then £6 to £8 million and that's being generous. In fact Nolito has only come onto the scene because Spain have dropped their best forwards. It's not disrespectful, it's just a fact, Navas has not produced the goods either by goals or assists.
Not saying Navas is the best thing going but Nolito certainly is no better, there is absolutely no way we should even be looking at Nolito even if he was to come and do alright we should not be looking in that direction for any amount of money, I still stand by it that I would much rather have Navas than him for all reasons you could possibly cover when making a transfer.
ReplyDeleteNavas is a sore point for me I sit close to idiots who always have a player picked out to have a go at and Navas comes up a lot with them, I am with you his end product lacks a lot at times but there seems to be a total disregard for his work rate and defensive work in general from a lot of city fans, just not someone that should stand aside for someone like Nolito for me especially seems as Navas knows what the prem is all about.
It's gona be a weird summer all round for transfers at city I feel though, Laporte was all but done now he's staying at Bilbao, yaw yeboah is saying Guardiola has plans for him, we have Roberts at Celtic who for me should be at city starting to intergrate into the first team, really baffling things going on and being linked to a player like Nolito which seems to be holding its water just cements that feeling for me.
I'm not saying I disagree with you, no one should attack their clubs players without good reason, i.e Bartons cigar stubbing. But I'm not a fan of Navas at all, Work rate means nothing to me unless you actually contribute positively, an example would be Pablo Zabaleta, James Milner who played out of their skins, but also scored goals, defended well and made assists, Navas may play out of his skin attacking but his defensive game is non existent, his assists record is poor and so is his scoring record. He's just not good enough and I'd rather we not have either Nolito or Navas at our club, we need better players.
