This is our City: City Make Liverpool Look Better Than They Are, What Went Wrong?

City Make Liverpool Look Better Than They Are, What Went Wrong?

Dejong for Balotelli at 82 minutes when at three goals down said it all for a half arsed performance making Liverpool look better than they are.

If your looking at this as a groaning whine then your far off the beaten track, this is an honest analysis to support a more than superb away following who deserve so much more than what they witnessed.

Rather than only shout when their winning like Liverpool and United fans, our support sings and shouts from start to finish whether or not we're winning.

I was talking to a relative and City fan this week and made a statement that I was not falling for the sudden improvement in Joleon Lescott alongside Kompany, I don't think Lescott is strong enough and consistant enough to play a centre role when played alongside an attacking wing back like Kolarov.

Last night only strengthened my opinion that we need to replace Lescott, we should have purchased the real strength of Everton ala Phil Jagielka.

Would Gary Cahill be a better punt or would we be better off bringing in a world class center half when we achieve Champions League football?

What all the fuss about from Everton was for baffles me, when they should have been laughing their backsides off as they robbed us blind.

I have given Mancini my full support from day one but questioned that support once or twice, well after Tevez going off no other player other than Silva should have replaced him.

Then substituting our defensive midfielder Nigel Dejong for Mario Balotelli 'our striker' on the 82 minute mark while being three goals down is just a slap in the face from our own manager.

Gareth Barry had an OK game but I feel Dejong should have started alongside Yaya, I think he would have made the world of difference in front of Lescott.

I am actually starting to think Mancini has taken us as far as he can, I know his CV says otherwise but lets face fact.

This is England and not Italy, if we play like that against United we are going to get creamed. We have had a weeks break so there was no tiredness to fall upon and excuses are all but dry.

I, like many other City fans of my generation am honestly tired of chopping and changing managers and want stability but I am starting to wonder if Mancini is the right man after that squad selection and lack of substitutions at the right moments but.

Right now a manager change scares the hell out of me as it more than often results in unsettling a club, OK sometimes it works with the right person but I don't think there are any people better than Mancini right now other than Jose Mourinho who already has a track record in England.

My heart says I want Mancini and City to succeed in gaining Champions League football and winning the FA Cup this season but, if Champions League football slips through our typical City fingers then Jose Mourinho won't be interested anyway ending in another season with Bobby Manc.

One thing that is for sure is, we need three or four more players in because I don't think Lescott is cutting the crust, SWP is probably on his way out only I rather he stayed. Our right back needs covering and, we are in need of a class act wing man who can whip in sublime crosses.

Here's to hoping that we can use this positively by going out and knocking United out of the FA Cup, I'm throwing in an extra bit of prayer time to the man in the bluemoon and hope that he gives my aunt and uncle something to shout about when their in the crowd on Wembley day against United.

You guys didn't make us look better. In fact, we made you look bad. When a 18-yr old youth player can successfully defend against City players, it shows whose got the better team. Pool played as a unit which is what City is currently lacking. You don't need new players. Get the ones you already have to blend as a team.

Renny, if you cannot admit that your team played out of their skin as if it was a cup final then your fooling only yourself, we 'City' played very poor football which made life for Liverpool far to easy.

You say City don't have to buy new players and that we should stick with what we have, yes that would be nice for you wouldnt it as you wouldnt want us to become anymore stronger than we are right?

Cityblue, that is true, we played out of our skin. As you are supposed to do week in week out right? Nobody wants to see a slacker.. (Balotelli)... And no, I reckon you dont need to buy more players seeing that you had £200 million on the field and we had 18year olds beating you anyway and just making you look bad. If you can't utilise players with that price tag, you should probably look to your manager.

Honest opinion , City's having bad day and liverpool show very good character as a team. For city to progress , balotelli need to be axed , he's one man team worst than any player i've ever seen . Stupid , selfish and everybody hates him. If JM cannot control him i don't think Mancini can.

Nice take on 18 year olds single handedly beating City 'sigh', also a nice take on advising me to look more at Mancini?

Either you have broken the record of having the shortest memory span ever for a human being or you have not completely read this article properly.

Considering the fact your club has gone from world class to a mid table team, you would think that would have brought you down to earth somewhat and decrease your arrogance.

All this 200 million on the field rubbish is becoming repetitive, your club have spent decades more and look where you are now with an aging team and scraps of youth.

  6. On balance over two matches we did to you what you did to us... Both of our excuses should be bad management decisions. Yes you with Royson and us Mancini cocked up in a big way. The difference is that Kenny has your team playing like a team and Mancini has our bunch of individuals playing like a bunch of individuals.

There needs to be more of a team ethic with us and less ego's in the changing room. I'm sorry but some of our players are right up their own jacksee's. Balotelli, waste of time... The defence were all over the place. The team selection was poor, simply we don't have the people throughout the team to influence the game as much as they should.

Players like De Jong and Silva were missing so what you get is an average team without those guys in there...

Very disappointing result, where we go from here only the owners can decide... Personally I don't think the players we have are up to it or are being trained properly to cope with the rigors of the league.. Go figure...

There is no point in playing Dzeko with no one crossing (how many times did Kolarov get in a position to cross, then turned back and passed the ball backwards, why? Surely he’s the only one with a half decent cross on the whole team) and having to constantly have his back to the goal with the ball behind him he’s totally different to Tevez and won’t make much out off playing this way. It's making him look bad, unfairly. Johnson is left footed on the right wing and is not the best of crossers to say the least, Milner is never a winger and right footed on the left wing. So how is Dzeko going to get anything from this? Balotelli is so far up his own arse and sees himself as the ultimate world class attacker when in reality he has not to much that I’ve seen up to now except stupidity up to now any way! His 5 or 6 touches with a nice flick in a game are never going to do much as he is as lazy as a lazy thing, believe me that’s lazy. Mancini has admitted mistakes I’d imagine some of these were (besides turning up) Milner playing on the left, no Silva and replacing De Jong (two goals from his area) with Gareth Barry (I don’t agree with Barton but one or two things he said about him were spot on). Why would Mancini not stick to the team that defended well and scored five goals to boot the week before? A game to forget all-round I’d say, with the only positive being that they didn‘t score more. They had a bit of luck with the first but for the most of the first half City looked like rabbits caught in the headlights just before the artic turned them into rabbit pancake, awful truly awful.
