Manchester City turned up for the FA Cup replay, and the signs were better however our defending was still very poor. Not entirely sure what has happened and not taking anything away from Leicester but, it seems our center of defence is not as solid as we would like to think.
The match was played at home this time as the atmosphere proved, Manchester City did not fail to please, Tevez cut Leicester open with the first quality goal.
The second was Vieira's to put away after a cross rebounded off of a Leicester defender, the third David Silva threading a sublime pass through Leicester's defense for Adam Johnson to latch onto.
That made for a very entertaining first half but a Leicester goal also played its part, super slow Vieira gifting Leicester at the other end with a penalty.
With reports coming in of Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo having a bust up one can only wonder, wait a minute as we have had our fair share of bust ups?
We know for sure we are not the finished article and I believe Joleon Lescott is not the man to partner our Kompany, I think we need a solid world class center-half and Sergio Ramos would be an electric capture.
A World Cup winner with Spain and David Silva, Ramos would not take long to settle in.
Second half and that went ah, we squandered some very good chances and Mancini made some very surreal substitutions with Barry in place of Silva in the 65th minute and more shockingly Jo for Yaya Toure in the 78th minute.
Silva did not look that tired and Yaya seemed fine also so why take off our creative players for a defensive midfielder and striker with nothing in his wardrobe?
Did I mention Nigel Dejong was also on the bench?
I know tired legs and all but come on, we had Alex Nimely sitting on the bench and Mancini is playing Jo. Damn that makes me angry seeing a young promising player like Nimely get shunned for a player like Jo, who's only strength is to hold a ball up.
Anyway moving on and this was the one I was waiting for, please step up Aleksandar Kolarov with a knack for scoring some wonder goals.
From the second we were linked with him I was literally praying for us to sign him, He has everything in his game but most importantly the ability to put the ball in the back of the net and I have been eager for him to get the ball rolling.
On the 90th minute Kolarov slices a goal straight through the Leicester defense and that made up for what was another sucker punch thanks to a match official, in the 83rd minute Leicester were clearly offside but the linesman got it wrong and that resulted in a Leicester goal.
Respect to Leicester City and I wish them all the best for the future.
Next up in the forth round of the FA Cup we have an encounter with a very big club in my humble opinion, Nott's County FC will hopefully prove to be a very good game. That is the real 'Magpies' from Meadow Lane and I don't mean Newcastle United.
Think I forgot to mention the ref actually played his part aswell in Leicester's second goal, the ball rebounded off of him if I recall and fell nicely for a Leicester player.
ReplyDeleteThat is three times in one week we have seen referee's getting in the way, and all three balls gifting our opponents at key moments.
I will attend a friend's wedding next month at a hotel near manchester airport ...it'll be my first time to visit the city, but i am more excited watching football games...the sport is not so in my area but I love watching it on tv...
ReplyDeleteIf the ball makes comtact with the referee play has to continue. It is the same as if the ball makes contact with the goal frame or the corner flag.
ReplyDeleteYou should read the rule book some day.
