Extremely impressed with Micah Richards and James Milner, Micah had disappointed me big time in previous seasons but it seems he has bucked up and really taken to Roberto Mancini. James Milner was absolutely fantastic in his first outing for Manchester and completely justified his price tag and arrival, you could not ask for more from a part of Englands future.
Overall the whole team was outstanding apart from one little issue, we need Kolarov and Boateng back fit as fast as possible. We again saw the weaknesses in our back line despite putting up a strong defense, Joleon Lescott was saved by Kompany and Dejong on more than one occasion.
We dominated the first half like Champions and Liverpool retaliated best they could but could not break us, we wobbled in the second half but soon picked up again.
It is hard to pick a man of the match with Milner, Johnson and Yaya all having fantastic games but I can only choose one so This is our City's Man of the Match is:
James Milner
The Haters Are Hypocrites
You know the god given rights of Man United FC and Liverpool FC, believing they deserve their history and status due to their decades of struggles and hard work?
Well thats down to sugar daddies, rich men like Harry Stafford and the Lord Major of Liverpool, John Houlding with bundles of cash and a need for an ego boost.
Both clubs were later taken over by American Businessmen who have bank-rolled these clubs on the back of borrowed cash from banks and investment.
Tottenham Hotspur are another club that have had or still have wealthy owners along with Blackburn Rovers, but what will really surprise you is Arsenal FC are not as squeeky clean as Arsenal fans would have you believe.
In 1910 Henry Norris took over at Arsenal after they were made bankrupt which they then moved to Highbury, from that point on they made their way to the top of English football with cash in hand thanks to Norris.
All these clubs apart from Blackburn Rovers have continued to spend spend spend to keep their status at the top though, Spurs and Arsenal fans would have you believe otherwise.
Now why do the they hate us?
There are two answers to this question:
1. The clubs and fans I mentioned above dont like the fact we are doing what they did and throw idle comments at us like, your buying the title and we earned it through hard work.
2. Other clubs fans are jealous of City gaining wealthy owners, but would jump for joy if their respected club were also taken over by wealthy owners.
Richard Dunne. Opposing fan and media saw our off-loading of Richard Dunne as a disgrace, as if we forced him out without a care in the world, they are voluntarily blind to the facts Dunne got a nice healthy pay off not to mention good wage from a then mid table club.
City fans loved him like a son and proved their devotion when Dunne last scored against Manchester City for Villa, also blind to the fact City let Dunne go to a rival club.
Joleon Lescott. Everton did not have to sell as all they needed to do was stick to their guns and say no, but noooooooo they, the fans and the media had to kick up an almighty stink by accusing City of tapping up Lescott. All we did was go in for a player and Everton played hard ball and got greedy.
Gareth Barry. Is another player we were accused of tapping up only Aston Villa had to go and do an Everton, again the media and Villa fans jumped on the band-wagon, if Villa did not want to sell then all they needed to do was say no.
Craig Bellamy. This one is completely laughable as City were made to look the bad guy once again, Craig Bellamy has been given the chance to play for his home-town boyhood club in Wales and his boyhood club are barely picking up the wage tab as City are paying the majority.
Only the media and wider majority of fan would have us believe we ousted him and punished him for his outburst, out on loan and will end up back at City ready to cover any injuries which is something to think about while being on a nice wedgey wage.
Stephen Ireland. once a huge Stevie fan I seriously believe he become to comfortable under Mark Hughes and when Roberto Mancini arrived, he then got disheartened and drifted into the background. Things may of impacted him in a negative way after his extreme fitness training being heavily publicised, he may have thought 'why should I have to prove myself again to a new boss'. Also seeing new big money signings arriving at City may have added to the situation.
We will probably never know the true story but one thing is for sure, opposing fans seem to think we ousted Ireland only City helped nurture Stevie into the player he is today and allowed him to leave for a rival club again Aston Villa. What do we get in return?, an outburst from Stephen Ireland with no gratitude and idle unintelligent comments from idle opposing fans.
So Villa have recieved £25 Million, Stephen Ireland and Richard Dunne from us, theyve not done too bad for two players going the other way aye.
Our 101 players. How on earth are we going to play everyone an keep them happy?
Well theres a list of 25 players including 8 homegrown players, not including players under 21 years of age.
Then there is the Carling Cup, FA Cup, English Premier League and Europa League games to play.
Looking at other top clubs squads it appears we have no more players than United or Liverpool have.
Wage and transfer price inflation.
If anyone should be to blame for inflation then it is the selling club for the asking transfer price, rather hypocritical when you here a Liverpool or United fan spouting their mouth off.
The wage subject is I find the only valid argument, that the media or an opposing fan can offer. While I agree players do get paid way to much, I also believe City are not to blame for high wages. If you want to point your finger at aynone for high wage demands then look no further than Man United, Real Madrid, Barcelona etc, as their top earning players were and are earning hundreds of thousand before anyone else.
Youth rotting due to foreign imports.
Vladimir Weiss kick started his loan move at Glasgow Rangers and the Ibrox faithful have taken to him already, we can see Abdisalam ibrahim, Alex Nimely, Greg Cunningham, Dedryk Boyata, Gunnar Nielsen and Javan Vidal all waiting for their moment to shine patiently in our first team.
They will al get their chance to shine at some point just like at any other top football club, either that or another club will gain a very good young player which in the long run can only aid football.
Academy products Nedum Onuoha is out on loan and Micah Richards is in our fist team which shows if your good enough you will get your chances, Dedryk Boyata has already shown Mancini hes part of the future.
So with the facts highlighted, do we care what the opposition think of us?
My answer is no, I could not care less, City will thrive off the hatred!
I'm neutral but am aware you have a huge squad. Not everyone is going to be happy. An obvious point but history tells us an unhappy ship is one that rocks.
ReplyDeleteI think you beat Chelsea twice last year? But then finished 5th. 36 more games is a long time.
completely agree which is why I said at the start of the article 'early days'.
ReplyDeleteTwo words for you, Steve Daley. Yes, you might remember City paying £1,437,500 for him back in 1979, a British transfer record at the time! Although Man City is a big club in England the truth is that worldwide they do not compete with Man Utd & Liverpool. Perhaps when they have won 18 league titles they might?
ReplyDeleteYou might have said early days, but your headline says different.
ReplyDeleteBold statement after 2 games
Don't be silly lad!!! 3-0 flattered city! you only had 3 shots on target and one of them was a penalty! Reina never had to make a save.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous a) We do not have a huge squad just lazy journalists who keep repeating it and even lazier supporters of rival clubs who want to believe it - check your facts before you criticise.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous b) City have always spent money when they had it - this is nothing knew - what is new is the negative reaction of every other manager, lazy journo and envious supporter. Get over it it isn't going to change!

ReplyDeleteOh it's that old 'you've got no history' chestnut again. Correction, we have a rich and varied history (you're probably too blind to see it though) Where we do differ though is that we have a bright future. Bring it on ! tick tock.
Give over, are you trying to telling us after one signing in 1979 that makes City the reason for inflated transfer prices?
ReplyDeleteIn 1962 United broke the British record buying Denis Law for 110.000 and then broke it again with Gary Birtles for 1.2 million and again Bryan Robson for 1.5 million in 1981.
Roy Keane in 1993 for 3.75 milion
Andy Cole in 1995 for 7 milllion
Ruud Van Nis in 2001 for 19 million
Juan Veron in 2001 for 28 million
And kept breaking their own records all through the 80s and 90s.
Who said we are as big as Liverpool or United, I think you need to read and research better than you do before commenting.
Bold statement maybe but Alex Ferguson was sitting in the stands watching on and City showed you all exactly how strong we are at present and we can only get stronger.
ReplyDeleteTick Tock.
The truth is if the sheikh had taken over the scousers the media would be hailing it as great news. And put a positive spin on everything they did. but they don't like the idea of any other teams breaking up the top four cartel. Especially city.! But our time is now so come on city rise above all the jealousy Android bad press Android win the lot.!!!!

City is not competing against "History". We are competing in the 2010-11 English Premier League. How many titles Man U or Liverpool have won in the past is irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, losing and reflecting back and how good things were when your team did win is no consolation.
Lol at the bitters! United have never been bankrolled, we earn 100 million profit every year from a 350 million turnover, a business that City can only dream of. Tick tock on the UEFA financial fair play rules, you'd better get your money spent quick.
ReplyDeleteYou United fans really are living in a dream world, well I hope those trophy's keep you warm at night especially after United cease winning them.
ReplyDeleteOnly then will you learn the true meaning of being a football fan and supporter.
Now run along now churpy.
