Yaya Toure will be given the role to boss the centre of midfield while Nigel Dejong mops up behind the pinpoint passer, its keeping the wing men happy that will be the challenge for our Roberto Mancini, David Silva, Adam Johnson, James Milner and Shaun Wright-Phillips with Vladimir Weiss now out on loan.
Carlitos Tevez will play in the hole behind either Mario Balotelli or Emmanuel Adebayor, captaining the side whilst defenders bounce off him with the aid of our wingers. So we can expect attacking play from all directions with a ball winning setup full of battling energy and pace, but this will not fully work until our squad gets used to each other and come together.
Mario Balotelli opened up his account by coming off the bench and linking up with Adebayor.
Joe Hart to be honest did not have much to do but still put in a great display and looks a powerhouse between the sticks but with Jerome Boateng and Aleksandar Kolarov out of action we will have to wait and see who exactly becomes our starting central defensive duo.
With one good away goal advantage under our wing for the second leg at home achieved, its safe to say we are progressing in the right direction as expected. We finally have some strength in depth with cover all over, and with a great crop of young talent in Abdisalam Ibrahim, Greg Cunningham, Dedryck Boyata, Gunnar Nielsen and Alex Nimely.
As expected it was not a fluid and graceful encounter in Romania as FC Timisoara put up a good fight and made it hard for City, but I think the lads did well considering its really only the second competitive game of the season. I'm expecting to see the real City against Liverpool FC and against FC Timisoara at home in the second leg.
I still have faith in Mancini and believe he is pushing us in the right direction giving us Spain and Brazil style play, direct and from all directions. I don't expect to see so many signings in the future as this is definitely the core strength in depth we have been crying out for for so long now.
Comparing our progress I think its logical to say we are now at the same stage Chelsea were at when first taken over by Roman.
Now at the second stage of development, will Mancini lead us to the promised land and keep us there?, only time will tell.
