Despite the fact Alan Wiley worked towards Tottenhams advantage and another referee gets away with costing us valuable points after a clear handball and penalty not awarded.
The ultimate blame is solely on the shoulders of Mark Hughes so with that said, here are seven reasons why I have finally decided Mark Hughes is not the man for Manchester City.
1. Vladimir Weiss, Martin Petrov and Santa Cruz on the bench and it takes Mark Hughes 59 minutes to replace a completely and utterly useless Robinho.
2. He watched on as Sylvinho showed he was completely out of his depth and made a Lennon look like a superstar and still did nothing in response, Sylvinho played the entire game.
3. Hughes substituted not Sylvinho, but instead Nigel DeJong for Martin Petrov which in my mind led to Tottenhams third goal.
4. Hughes was blind to the huge fact Sylvinho could not control Lennon and could have replaced Sylvinho with Vincent Kompany pushing Onouha to left wing but did he?, no Vincent Kompany warmed the bench for the whole game.
5. Pablo Zabaleta was also on the bench, who could of replaced Robinho and Hughes could have played Zab on the right pushing Barry to the left but did he?, no.
6. Two referee's have cost us points now when it was plain and clear a Tottenham player handled with intent and we were denied a penalty, I am sick and tired of watching managers allow it to happen and not do anything about it and Hughes is just another manager that does nothing.
7. Hughes did not have a clue what to do against Tottenham and it showed with his useless substituting and lack of tactics.
Despite that I am also disgraced by the amount of referee's in this country who manipulate football matches.
Clearly Alan Wiley's decisions favoured Tottenham when he clearly should have booked Tottenhams Dawson, Palacios and Huddlestone early on in the match but instead opted to give them a little slap on the wrist two or three times. As soon as it was a City player, the yellow cards started flying out of his pocket with Sylvinho, DeJong and Carlos Tevez picking up cards.
It took Alan Wiley 5 fouls as well as 66 minutes to show Palacios a yellow.
Ultimately it was a disgraceful performance from Manchester City and the players should be ashamed of themselves for allowing an average Tottenham to walk away with three points they clearly did not deserve.
A Defensive Midfielder as well as a Holding Midfielder on the pitch and they both allowed Tottenham the ability to dictate, sure part of the problem was a useless Robinho but still.
Im sick and tired of being beaten by average and over performing teams, are you?
Im sick and tired of excuses, are you?
I think we need a world class manager, dont you?
Ultimately, Mark Hughes will probably get his January transfer window and the rest of the season to prove he has got what it takes but I am now not convinced he will.
If Spurs are average where does that leave City ? a team we beat with ease 3 0.
ReplyDeleteYou beat us with ease because City never turned up with only one player performing aka Tevez.
ReplyDeleteSpurs are average with most teams laying down to make Spurs look good but when Spurs play the current big guns you always loose.
Your club are simply having a run of great luck, a freak occurrence.
Dont try preach to me about City spending loads of cash either when you know full well your club a the second biggest spenders in the Premier League just behind United.
Did you realise i lay the blame solely on Hughes, City never turned up but if we did the result would have been reversed.
Your defence never played well, City just made your club look better than they are like Burnley and Wigan etc
I agree with you Hughes is the not up to it, get us the special one
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm - those that know me will know that I have said Hughes is not the guy for us and is tactically unaware from the very first game we played under him.
ReplyDeleteNow, it would appear that most (although not all) are agreeing with me. Maybe I should pick the next manager? In fact if City want to pay me a one off fee of lets say..........£500,000.00 I will so gladly. After all, its only a couple of months wages for a guy who clearly cannot see what is going on on the pitch and would appear to have no skill in managing the more high profile players. Even he admitted that it was the players themselves - arguing with each other - that gee'd themselves up for the Arsenal and Chelsea performances. Why isn't he doing that? We don't need a nice guy. Great player - but not a great manager.
Mate your headline sums up how bonkers you are. We lost to a team desperate for a win who have started the season very well and had a couple of bad results.
ReplyDeleteWe had our first choice left back AND left midfield out. We had lost Lescott on the day of the game. Other than Barry at left back how could he take Sylvinho off?
In spite of all that we started with an aggressive formation forcing Spurs to play loose balls into the channels whilst we tried to get a first half goal against a team who would buckle if behind.
for point 3. - he clearly took De Jong off when he didnt want to because he had ust gone mental at the ref and was going to get sent off. If that had happened you would be saying "Why didnt he take De Jong off? It was obvious he was going to be sent off?", which I bet you did after Zab got sent off earlier in the season.
He brought Santa Cruz on because Ade was not doing his job and playing as a centre forward. We looked much better after this change.
Lennon is the best right winger in the country. All of our players would have struggled, especially at a goal down.
The very fact that your headline mentions Hughes, when its Robinho and Adebayor who caused all our great passing through the Spurs midfield to come to nothing because they are LAZY, sums up that you have too high expectations of one man. If Bellers had played we would have worked Lennon harder and nullified them. Petrov wouldnt haave done it either, Sylvinho would have been just as exposed. And who signed Bellers? Sven? The new owners? Oh no, it was Mark Hughes.
Totally agree MH out now not the end of the season.Just before anyone says it a knee jerk reaction Ive said it along from day 1. He can not control big players some of his signings have been crap . 7 draws 2 losses equates to 20 points dropped, nearly 7 losses if they had have been losses everyone would want him out. North stand block 145
ReplyDeleteI think its fair to say that city did not turn up, i think its fair to say that spurs are not champions league contenders but more a case of the rest of the teams outside the top 2 are'nt either.
ReplyDeleteI think this was a case of the old 'hoodoo' - city dont get results against spurs (read bogey).
City made spurs look better than they are, but spurs played well and deserved the victory, i just didnt think it would be that easy.
Mark Hughes made a few great signings sure but they were signings anyone could have made as with Shay Given, Craig Bellamy and Carlos Tevez it could hardly go wrong could it.
ReplyDeleteYou cannot judge a manager by the signings he makes, Sven made did worse than Hughes and almost lost us Stephen Ireland as Stephen Ireland contemplated leaving City after hearing City staff laughing their heads off after we were literally humiliated by Middlesborugh 8-1 which Ireland stated was the lowest point of his footballing career.
All seven of your points are basically saying that Mark Hughes is inept at sending his team out motivated, organised, and is ineffectual in changing the direction of a game through substitutions and tactics.
ReplyDeleteI hope you admit he is successful in other areas of the manager's job, such as identifying and signing good players, standing by his team in public, good at dealing calmly with the media, and so on.
If he signs more top quality players, it will give him some real options to put on players who can genuinely change the course of the game - at the moment, despite the money spent, I don't think he has the strength in depth that so called tactical geniuses like Mourinho could call upon at Chelsea for example, or even baconface up the road.
If Hughesy doesn't strengthen the squad in january, and spend big, he only has himself to blame if results don't pick up. This is a once in a lifetime job for him, hope he doesn't blow it by being too cautious, as I've warmed to many of his abilities in the last year.
sack hughes now
ReplyDeleteYou just explained it yourself, Hughes is not capable of doing the job as he lacks half of what you need to be successful.
ReplyDeleteYour not the only one that warmed to him as I also did but my patience is running out fast.
Sparky was wrong with that decision with sylvinho, but Hughes isn't to blame for it all it is not Sparky's fault that Robinho is the biggest waste of money since Corradi, Robinho is a bad influence on the team and we should sack Robinho before Hughes, Sparky is only a short term fix, Jose Mourinho would be the answer, but someone like Mourinho and Wenger should lead the team, and Robinho must go.
