First of all I would like to say Thankyou to Mark Hughes for the job he did and the best of luck for the future, next on the other hand I would also like to say I am glad our owner moved fast before it was too late.
'To late?' you may be thinking, we are still in the Carling Cup with the FA Cup coming up, 6th in the league with a game in hand so what more could you want.
I personally want a manager that can motivate and lead in times of need which Hughes clearly could not do.
I believe that many of these so called people backing Mark Hughes now he has been sacked, are either hypocrites or are just plain blind.
Some of those people were begging for Mark Hughes to fail while at Manchester City before he was sacked, now they have changed their tune and have taken up the opportunity to have a pop at City using Hughes as a beating stick.
Or maybe the odd so called City fan that worries about loosing face and that cares more about what outsiders think instead of their own club. Some people need to get their priorities straight and take a big gulp of reality.
Four Catergories:
1. A devoted City fan who values their club no matter who is in charge, who does not care what outsiders think and see's the bigger picture. Who values City's owner for the time and money he is investing in the club and academy.
2. An Outsider who in my opinion can take their opinion and shove it where the moon dont shine.
3. A City fan with their priorities twisted who needs to wake up and smell the coffee, thats the cold hard blunt look on it. If you choose to back Mark Hughes and turn on our owner and the club because you value what outsiders think, then you need to go support another club as you clearly do not value your position as a City fan or respect our club.
4. On the Fence.
Answer: which one are you?
I know I am not a Minority when saying, Mark Hughes was finally out of his depth but I wanted him to prove me wrong until the Spurs game, he was failing more and more and had to go.
I did not support Manchester City FC for 30 odd years just to turn my back on the club for the sake of an outsiders opinion or an ex manager who did not achieve the targets he was set and agreed too.
On the player side of it, there are many stories flying around about players protesting. Well all I can say is, If a player wants to revolt over who their boss is then they need to ship out fast. I can speak for most City fans when I say, we only want players that want to play for Manchester City and not players that only want to play for a certain manager or coach.
Finally, I would like to say welcome and best of luck to our new manager, Roberto Mancini.
Lets look at this again when the new guy gets exactly what Mark did, it's the players who needed to go especially, Robinho, Lescott and Bridge.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Excellent. Amazing how many closet Reds there are in the media. If Hughes hadn't gone, the same hacks would be baiting him non-stop.
ReplyDeleteI predicted someone would use that scenario, 'wait until it happens to Mancini'.
ReplyDeleteI can confirm if it did happen to Mancini then it would be for the same reason, because he failed.
Sure some players need to go as they were half the reason Hughes were sacked.
The players who I think were to blame are Sylvinho, Bridge and Toure but that does not mean Hughes did not deserve his sacking.
Hughes did not achieve the targets he agreed too.
Agree with you - for me Hughes failed at the start of his term when we lost 4 -2 at Villa because he did absolutely nothing to change things on the field but sat liked a statled rabbit and let our team be slaughtered. This has been replicated so much since as he has sat watching as the team struggled. It was ironic to see him spend all of the game v Sunderland on the touchline.Unlike many of us although he has lost his job he will have a multi £ million pay off and in all honesty left us with far fewer happier memories as we had with Sven.
ReplyDeleteat last ive read something ,written by someone who knows what they are talking about, this is absolutely true
ReplyDeleteGood lord - a website with sensible City related content! - you'll be closed down you know!! Totally agree with everything. Is Mancini the man for the job? we don't know yet. Was Mark Hughes? no. Is football a business and should it be run accordingly? yes. Is it all Garry Cookes fault?. No - he isn't the ownwer and didn't make the decision to fire or hire. The funniest thing (or saddest, whichever way you look at it)was a City fan ringing up GMR on saturdays phone in saying "Roberto who? we've never heard of him - it's like Brian Horton all over again"!! unbelievable. Come On Roberto!! ...oh and should players 'revolt'? - no problem, the job centre is that way... see you against Stoke. Merry Xmas.
ReplyDeleteI agree hughes had to go, i feel the club could have handled it more professionally though, i'll give him credit in that he has handled himself with dignity throughout his tenure and wish him the best for the future, tactically though he was clueless, ray charles could see you don't use robinho as cover for a 36 year old left back, especially against the best winger in the league when we played spurs. I would also question the prices we paid for some of our back four aswell.
ReplyDeleteI was never a Hughes Out fan. As the run of bad results got to me I simply told myself that in my near 15 years of supporting City I've never had it this good, and I should take everything with equal grace, good or bad, because it's a whole lot better than anything I've ever seen us do before, 7 consecutive draws included. The City I used to know would not have pulled back from a losing position to Burnley at home, not that I didn't laugh at Typical City for it. However, I have to say that now this has happened and Hughes has gone I have to agree with your sentiments. Much as everyone was saying that Hughes was starting to get a grip on the side, that it all takes time and that we were just having a bad patch, it wasn't true. We were actually getting worse game-on-game with him. After I left BlueMoon in disgust at their overwhelming Hughes Out tone, the stuff they were saying about him not being able to make a tactical substitution started to become more obvious to me, and the fact that he couldn't control the big players was obvious. I will always respect Hughes for what he's done for us, but the time was right for him to go. I'll support Mancini no matter what happens, but if we show the ability to put down weaker sides and more of a willingness to actually defend properly, then I'll consider the appointment justified. I think we should all remember what the board have done for us already, too, before claiming that they are disgusting for their treatment of Hughes. Yes, it wasn't good, but we can't afford to turn on the benefactors who have done so much for us already just because of this one thing. Let's all give them a few more years and perhaps another manager before deciding if they really have no respect for footballing figures.
