Vincent Kompany Is The Answer To Manchester City's Dilemma, The Perfect Partner For Kolo Toure

With Nigel De Jong showing strong performances and Lescott struggling to make his place along side Toure his own, Vincent Kompany is back from injury putting in a good 90 minutes for City's reserves along side Michael Johnson.

What better partner in the centre of defence along side Toure than Vinnie Kompany, will Mark Hughes be blind to such a logical move or will he push Joleon Lescott into his prefered position at left-back and surprise us?

A back four of Zabaleta, Toure, Kompany and Lescott supported by De Jong is surely to work well and solve our wobbly defending. Kompany being 6ft4 would be a most welcomed addition to Shay Given.

What are your opinions on this?

That back 4 looks good to me. I think Lescott might be more productive at left back, and although we'll lose some of Bridge's attacking, I think City will be stronger with this lineup.

I think this would be our best 11:

    Given

    Zab Toure Kompany Lescott

    De Jong Barry

    Ireland

    Tevez Robinho

    Adebayor

With Swp and Bellamy bringing some energy off the bench

  3. Not a bad idea, although I'd like to see Vinny's height used in the midfield area, where we seem to win nothing in the air. Maybe Yaya Toure will come and do that job for us, fingers crossed.

On a more pedantic note, and sorry if it's been pointed out before, but City's motto is "Superbia in Proelia", not Praelia as on the top of this page. Again, apologies for being so picky, but it just reminds me of Praline chocolates, which I don't like! I'll shut up now.

jim.lawlor, I have listened to this debate many many times between City fans and being an ex student of Latin I can let you know that neither are right or wrong as Proelia and Praelia are both the same word and meaning.

Prolia'tor or Prelia'tor are shortened versions of the meaning Warrior, Fighter.

  5. Fair point City Blue,

I had a feeling I was going to be corrected on that bit!
wish I'd paid more attention in Latin at school, although this seems to be the only time in 27 years the need has arisen!
nice to see we do seem to have some "pride in battle" nowadays, no more tamely rolling over when going behind.
