Manchester City Cheated Out Of Three Points By Simulating Hull, Fifa To Call For Extra Referee's After Henry Handball

The Republic of Ireland have forced Fifa into action, we may not get goal line technology but Sepp blatter and Fifa will be considering extra referee's positioned behind goals for the upcoming Africa World Cup.

This comes in the wake of Thierry Henry's handball but a few lifetimes after Diego Maradona's handball.

Cheating is a big issue within football and has to be stamped out as this is one issue that infuriates any fan of football including those in extreme control of their emotions.

The Republic of Ireland have called for Fifa to allow them to be the 33rd country for the World Cup in Africa but if Fifa do so then they will have to also include Costa Rica for an offside goal against allowed.

This could be a positive start to make players think twice about cheating and also relieve pressure on the match referee's.

Hull City players were without a doubt guilty of simulation at times, especially after recieving a penalty when they should not have.

What made me angry was that Phil Brown stood at the edge of his technical box and a Hull player repeatedly went down way to easily infront of him only for Phil Brown to wave his arms around like a rabid goose to get the attention of the referee.

Was that intentionally planned in the dressing room after half time?, I think so and referee's need to gain a little more savvy and not allow themselves to be influenced by coaches and managers.

Will the same be implemented into domestic football?

Getting quite a few comments with foul language so wont be publishing those.

Keep it clean if you want it published, non City fans.

  3. What about Hull vs Burnley?
Freekick disallowed, second yellow for Giovanni slipping and a penalty that was simulated by the burnley player falling.

All in all it is part of football now and the job of the Ref to make a judgment call which sometimes is wrong

Sour grapes you ay, think again, my attendence backed up by tv footage just shows the facts.

I did not publish a few comments due to foul language from a few Hull fans but to answer one of their questions.

Adebayor was not guilty of following through and did not warrant a red card, on the other hand McShane was guilty to sin and did not like it when he got it in return from Bellamy.

Dont dish it out if you cannot take it is the moto yes.

Anyway the subject is cheating, not the Hull game.

This is my point, a referee behind goal would solve the problem of simulation within the 20 yard area.

No matter who simulates, I am against but one thing i dont agree with is your notion that it is part of football Offcore.

To accept cheating is to ruin the beautiful game.

  6. Someone was saying at the match on Saturday that Hull have been given the most number of penalties in the Premier League this season. If true it's no suprise!!

The thing is, even if there is somebody behind the goaline, there will inevitably be other things going on which won't be covered by the officials. What offcore is trying to say is that part of football is things like important decisions which make the crowd hold their breath, or balls crossing the line and being ruled out. I was at that game, Jan was moving one way and Toure clumsily went in. It wasn't malicious by any means, he didn't mean to do it, but accident or not (previous poster mentioned geo's card against Burnley which was an accident) it was a foul in the area and thus a penalty. Manchester City were not robbed of anything, it was a balanced game and we frustrated you into yet another draw. It is a shame you feel "cheated", because we thought we earnt every bit of that point, it might be because you saw your millions of pounds worth of investment held by a team who people still don't believe have any right to be in the Premier League. I would see it as two points dropped from your side, but not two points cheated out of.

I see your point Darknuss34, to be clear I ment having a referee behind the goal will inevitably allow a referee to correct any mistake. If a ref behind the goal corrected the referee then Geo may well not recieved the card and play may have been waved on without the penalty just like Henry, it would have been a goal disallowed for cheating whether it was cheating due to a refereee making a mistake or cheating by a player simulating.

CheadleBlue, I am aware of what you speak of and have had quite a few Hull fans throw abuse and use foul language so far for me mentioning simulation which have not been published. Respect to those who have held back the opportunity to do the same here.

On that note being in the Premier League for the time we have been, should remind us that physicall and poor football teams tend to simulate more and go down easilly more as that is their only strength. I call it oldskool sunday league football short a few drops of blood.

I guess maybe fans of clubs like Hull and Burnley would not welcome extra referee's behind goals as it takes that one advantage away from them.

  10. I was under the impression that until about 2 or 3 weeks ago, Hull were the only team not to have been awarded a Penalty.

    Now they've had two.

Is that the most this season ? Crikey.

Chris, give it til the end of the season and you may find Hull has many more penalties with the way they play, its a panto style play at 20 yards. every opportunity you fans get, your instantly on your feet crying penalty penalty lol.

  12. Penalty or not you have the quality to put away a side like Hull but didn't. Any fool can analyse individual incidents in a game and claim they are fouls; handballs etc but in 90 mins you only scored one (own) goal. Only yourselves to blame. Stop moaning and get on with the game.

  13. City BLue- People in glass houses should not throw stones. Simulation is something that Robinho, Adebayor and SWP all did in abundance.

As for not allowing comments that have swearing in them- my 1st comment did not have swearing in it- and STILL you did not publish it.

Also so far this season we have had 2 penalties- both converted by Bullard. Man City have had 0. We have had 3 against us.
ManUre have had 4 penalties- more than any one else.
    Burnley have conceded 5 penalties.
So please get you facts straight.
Also Adebayor's disgraceful challenge was picked up by ALL of the media- both written press and the TV. McShane was nothe oneto injure Adebayor- it was Zayette- which was nowhere near as bad as the Adebayor stamp.
    SOUR GRAPES.

  14. I think it's just a rose-tinted issue, as to be fair, Adebayor must have greased his boots the amount of times he fell in the area.

My perception is that the higher paid teams tend to "pretend" more than the lower teams. Take Drogba for instance. It's rife in the top teams, whereas we maybe are just learning to compete.

I've also noticed in recent weeks, the amount of shirt pulling and other cynical fouls that the other Premier teams seem to be inflicting on us is ridiculous and often goes unpunished.

The occasional penalty isn't even close to covering for this cheating.

I believe you and others slightly altered words to your own specification which still constituted as bad language as well as leaving personal attacks.

Keep it respectable and it will be published.

No matter how you look at it we all agree cheating happens when it should not be allowed to happen if possible.

Giving it the glass house and rose tinted glasses comments are just hypocritical.

People tailor banter to their own specification i.e. at times taking banter to the extreme, if I bend a few noses then I have succeeded however I do not personnally attack people, I do not use foul language and at the end of the day I respect peoples opinions despite disagreement.

    That is true clean banter.

Moaning?, who's moaning David. What would be the point in moaning if the outcome cannot be altered, I merely used Hull V City as an example of how cheating is a problem. Some need to lighten up.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree some need to lighten up. It's only a game after all... cheating's always been a problem though and always will be. It's human nature. Adebeyor is a classic example; he's either on his backside or stamping on someone. My point however remains; you had your chances and didn't take them. Better luck next week!

David, you accusing a player of cheating is pot calling the kettle black as your favoured club plays football based on cheating, oldskool football which should be left in the past along with Roy Keane and Eric Cantona.
