The Mirror's Brian Reade reports, For any Manchester City fans who resent being labelled Abu Dhabi Rent Boys or fear for the future if the sheikh decides to switch his wealth back to camel racing, read these words...
"What does it matter? I've supported the club since I was four and I'll still be supporting them if they're in the Conference. I say just enjoy it while it lasts and have a ball."
And if Noel Gallagher can't stop you fretting, maybe this email from a Newcastle fan will:
"I've started calling us Nocastle. We've no staff, no manager, no owner, no motivated players, no honesty and no hope because every bidder who's looking at the books is saying 'no thanks'."
City fans should look at Newcastle and realise the fickle hand of fate has delivered them four aces.
Because instead of being taken over by a wolf in sheikh's clothing with big money, you could easily have been bought by a sheep in a replica shirt with none.
That got me thinking, "Ok Noel, Im with you on the enjoying the ride but I don't want my ride to stop soooooooooooooooooooooo, what do i think next?"
We know our very generous Arabian owner has us under a ten year plan so thats ten more years of enjoyment.
But what if he stops funding Manchester City?, well within ten years Manchester City FC should be pulling enough profit to sustain the club.
What of Newcastle FC, well I genuinely do feel for Newcastle fans but I just don't see the similarity, Newcastle had an owner with limited cashflow where as our owners have unlimited cashflow and Newcastle did not have the Academy as productive as City's to pull them out of the fix they got into.
My advice to Newcastle fans is to keep the faith and look back at the time when City went from top club to second division and back to top club.
Like Noel says, Roll with it and like I say, keep Rolling.
What makes me laugh is hearing bitter opposing fans try feed us the line 'Lets see what happens when the Arabs walk away from City'. As long as they walk away leaving us free of debt ill be happy.
