Reading Deserved Nothing For Parking The Bus, Brian McDermott Should Go Back To Selling Insurance

Well deserved 3 points for our lads against a boring and predictable Reading FC, seriously if that's your game then you deserve to be relegated.

In my opinion Reading deserved nothing from this game, they turned up to do nothing but park the bus and pinch a goal. The most boring stunt to ever grace the world of football, 11 players behind the ball for the majority of the game. Pavel Pogrednyak spelt it out to Skysports, they feared being humiliated so they parked the bus.

Their manager Brian McDermott claims on Reading's official website, that the decision to rule out Gareth Barry's goal was ridiculous?, what just because Gareth Barry came out on top against a not so intelligent Nicky Shorey?

If they want to start pointing fingers then Reading FC need to educate their own players on how to not man handle their opponents for a whole 94 minutes, Reading should have at least had one player sent off and a few more yellows to boot.

Like I said earlier if Reading want to play that game, then they deserve to be relegated. Despite the fact I have no liking for the Geordie's, Reading could learn a lot from Newcastle United.

Reading feel hard done by don't they, well they will continue to do so if they continue to park buses and insult their travelling fans with nothing but boring football. What was with the extra minute at the end?, 4 minutes of added time but the whistle was blown at 95 minutes while conveniently Reading sat in City's half?

Great performance from our lads apart from not being clinical enough in the final third, Karim Rekik did extremely well at left wing back. Not his natural position may I add, and without a natural left winger in front of him.

We keep the pressure on United and they will soon crack and crumble, Christmas is looking pretty good so far.

Great post, Reading are disgraceful... here's to hoping for their relegation!

    1. Have to say the Club deserve relegation, but their fans don't,(whether or not my opinion holds, depends on the reaction of the fans).

I'm sorry but I'm a reading fan and today was the fist game we parked the bus because every other game We've gone full out going for the win and getting hammered so don't comment like you've watched our games this season

    1. Where in the article does it say you've parked the bus in all your games, I'm judging purely on this game.

    2. Btw if your getting hammered when going all out, why not try doing both and balancing that all out with a bit of defending and v versa.

  4. Well well well, then I'd say if you can't defend and attack at the same time you have no business being in the Premier League so with that said.

Happy relegation! Ha ha ha Merry Christmas

Chelsea won the Champions league by parking the bus. There is nothing wrong with defending away from home for a point. We were lucky on a few occasions not to concede, but the goal shouldn't have stood as Barry was climbing on the back of our player. What you deserve from a game and what you get aren't always the same, and Reading were only denied a point by a poor and incorrect umpire's decision.

    2. Yes and they suffered a verbal backlash for playing that way, they were branded boring and negative.

The only reason they won the Champions League was because Barcelona allowed them too by not turning up. Barca were shockingly poor that night, they should have walked it but let themselves down.

Umpire, I'm sure that's cricket, its referee in football/soccer.

I seem to remember us doing the same at Arsenal a couple of seasons ago because Mancini had one of his key players missing (and it was just one - but I don't remember who)

We got a hard earned point that day defending for our lives, and whilst I was a little annoyed that we didn't try and compete. no one could argue that Mancini got his intended target - a point.

Reading did what they had to today - good luck too them. Interestingly if they'd been more circumspect when they were leading against United they may have actually got something out of that game, instead of waiting till they were 4-3 down.

They do need a more balanced approach to survive.

    1. Ye & I condemned Bobby when he did, swore I'd verbally rip holes out of him if he did. thankfully he didn't, the difference here is we weren't fighting relegation. How can Reading take the fight to Trafford United, then try justify parking the bus against us aye.

Exactly what I said, balance, if you can't do both you have no business in the Premier League.

Reading weren't disgraceful at all. They are a team fighting for survival up against the premiere league champions. Every point counts. (do you remember those days fighting for survival) There will be other teams that come to the ethiad that park the bus. with a squad worth over £500 million they should be able to beat any team put in front of them comfortably no matter what formation is played!

    1. Yes they were a disgrace, to their away fans who travel miles and pay up just to support a team that fail to attack and defend well.

Yes I do remember considering I've been supporting our club since the late 70s, City back then attacked more than they defended. We maybe lost but at least we lost with pride and heart, I don't care if they park the bus week in week out against us, I just think those Reading away fans deserve more.

    2. If you want an example, FA Cup vs Spurs 3 nil down at half time. SWP drove right through Spurs and scored, City ripped Spurs apart with only 10 players on field to win 4-3.

Have you seen Readings scores this Season? they are certainly not a team that look to park the bus each week! 7-5 against Arsenal, 4-2 Arsenal, 4-3 united, 3-3 fulham, 4-2 chelsea. i understand what you are saying about playing for the fans but i think at this stage of the season every point counts no matter how it comes.

when you are 3-0 down in an FA cup match at half time your only option is to attack! i think any team would do the same?

    5. Not at all, you couldn't be more wrong, our players could have just admitted defeat and defended just to save even more humiliation.

But they didn't and saw that they and the City fans deserved more, clearly your club thought differently.

  7. to be honest Reading did what most teams have done this year. Park the bus. I thought it was so frustrating that none of our players and management know that when there are 11 players blocking the route through the centre we have to stretch play and get crosses in... instead of cutting in all the time. was very happy we got the goal so late, but we need to sort our width out... I thought Rekik did well, just sorry for the lad that players chose not to pass to him when he was hugging the touchline. anyway all said and done, 3 points, who gives a shit as long as we keep wining. lol CTID ;)

    1. Most teams?, I think you will find those MOST teams you talk about actually tried to win while parking the bus, Reading barely even attacked in the second half managing only 3 counter attacks.

Trust me they tried to stretch Reading but clearly Reading were told not to leave their own half in numbers, Reading never had less than 6 or 7 players in their own half after they realised they weren't going to pinch an early goal after the first 30 minutes.

I get frustrated that our wide players don't stretch out, but that is because we had no natural outside wide players do we (I've been crying out for true wingmen at City to help Dzeko).

I love how our club getting a rich owner suddenly makes the hundreds of Blues I know and myself who have gone to games from anywhere between 1960 and 1980 to present day... plastics! It's such a cheap, easy, and uninformed comment to make. WE WERE HERE WHEN WE WERE SHIT.

Great read, just what I was thinking about Reading.

  10. I know and even when we were shit we never parked the bus and were never treated to a whole 90 odd minutes of defending.

Who gives a flying hoot what they think, they would be singing a different tune if it were their club.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  12. I was proud of Reading yesterday against the big time charlies. McDermott got the tactics right yesterday we deserved a point .With your funding its actually your team that shouldnt belong in the Premier,go and set up a European Club league for similar crazy spending clubs and let the others compete without your distortion

i think the majority of Reading fans that travelled to watch the game yesterday will be extremely proud of their teams efforts. had they come to attack then we all know it could have been a cricket score! as it turns out Reading should have had a penalty in the 2nd half and who knows what the result may have been. i think Reading will be relegated this season mainly due to their all out attack formation in their previous 17 games? had they adopted this style on more away trips then they may well have picked up more than two points? you say that Reading have no business in the prem league, i have to say when it comes to televised games on sky sports, when Reading are on you know there will be goals and usually an entertaining game unlike some other fixtures the prem league produces.

    3. Think you're a Nostradamus wannabee, if they had attacked a little more often there is nothing to say they could have walked away with 3 points. BUT they didn't did they, they were just settling for a pathetic draw, 1 point that would have achieved then what exactly? NOTHING.

Bottom of the league with 9 points, 6 points needed and they were stelling for a draw. How is that worthy of fan pride exactly, other teams around reading come, have come to us and put up a real fight and a few have almost succeeded. Now that is worth fan pride, if Reading defended as much as they attacked and v versa then I'd be praising them right now.

i think a lot of Reading fans agree that it was a goal that should have stood. i think most are baffled that a penalty was not given in Readings favour. it was a clear handball in the box that diverted the cross to tabb who was also fouled. i know the pundits say that your defender didnt do it deliberately but he didnt get the ball and took the Reading man out!Clear penalty for me.

    2. If you want to talk about not earning a penalty, how about the fact one of your players who were on a yellow. Who should have been sent off but instead the punk of a referee warned him twice in a row after recieving his first yellow.

If it wasn't delibrate then its not a penalty, what part of that don't you understand?.

The Barry incident could have been a penalty for City. Shorey is clearly trying to impede/obstruct Barry and making NO attempt to win the ball.
