The tabloids are full of it these past few days with a large scale attack on Nigel Dejong being an understatement.
I don't remember a large scale attack being launched at Roy Keane or any other player I might add other than one player aka Joey Barton who was also conveniently at the time a City player.
At least someone has come out in support of Nigel in the form of Holland Skipper Mark van Bommel who is the Holland coaches son-in-law.
“It’s highly unfortunate if you break two opponents’ legs in six months, I know… But I know Nigel well and he’s a sensitive guy. He doesn’t want to hurt a soul but his job is to win duels and the ball. That is his strength. He repossesses many balls and thanks to Nigel – among other players – we reached the finals in South Africa. Now people are referring to him as a criminal. That is outright nonsense.”
I agree with Van Bommel that Dejong does need to be a bit more careful but that he should not change the way he plays, I also believe Dejong did not mean to hurt anyone and that the Alonso situation was a one off mistake that media and opposing fan are using to their advantage which is pathetic.
Mr Nigel Dejong, This is our City backs you to the hilt and believes you have been wronged by your country and brutally attacked by ignorant hypocrites.
With that said moving onwards and upwards our 24 year old super Serb defender Aleksandar Kolarov is in contention for the Blackpool game which is fantastic news after seeing Jerome Boateng return, This is bad news for the Premier League as we now have a full strength defence to choose from.
And on that note this reported bust up in the papers between Carlos Tevez and Roberto Mancini is nothing more than the usual fabricated lies.
Kolo Toure revealed that Roberto Mancini's half time team talk inspired City to win against Newcastle.

“Newcastle put up a hard fight and were tough opponents,” admitted Toure.
“It was difficult after Thursday because we had only two days to recover and work. We started the game slowly and we were not pleased with that. Then we conceded a sloppy goal.
“The right things were said at half time, the manager had the right words and we worked harder in the second half and we are really happy that we got the three points.”
Newcastle Assistant Defends Dejong
Your going to have to do better than that punks, they must think we City fans were born yesterday.
Looking on the positive side, every time Nige goes into a tackle from now on, the player on the receiving end may well wimp out due to his fearsome reputation!
ReplyDeleteI think this media "storm" is mainly lazy websites and bloggers repeating what others have written, often word for word, and it almost becomes seen as factual, purely because it's said so often.
This is a new phenomena, and one which probably won't go away, and which we need to get used to.
Perhaps this will also work to our advantage - our reputation as a big, tough, yet skillful team, with quality all over the park will hopefully psychologically defeat teams before a ball has been kicked.
Top teams have this reputation, which often wins them games, but I have noticed Manure seem to have lost theirs - the so called minnows are playing withoutr fear against them - happy days!
Well put, there is currently a petition to get the FA to investigate Nigel Dejongs tackle and chop off his head.
ReplyDeleteI wont be posting a link as the idiots that want to sign it will have to do the searching for themselves.
Currently 262 signatures and the pathetic petition will amount to nothing due to the fact the FA can not act as they back the referee who was right in stating there was no intent or maliciousness.
The Dutch coach has caused this. His pathetic attempt to make De Jong the scapegoat for the negative attention they received for the final. I still don't even think it was a foul.
ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion, Gareth Barry is the City player who really has an edge when it comes to "enforcing" in midfield. He often gets revenge on the opposition when they foul our more flair players, and is really not shy of showing them who's boss!
ReplyDeleteI don't see any intent in Dejong's face when he tackles, but occasionally I do with Barry, which I personally love to see (he only does it to counter bad tackles from the opposition, he doesn't start it to be fair).
So these plonkers who are labelling Dejong have missed our true "hitman" anyway, which I can live with.
Dejong is an easy target, and will probably be scrutinised and labelled a "thug" from now on by the lazy press and moronic fans, which is a shame as I think his passing game has come on in leaps and bounds this season.
I agree that De Jong's tackle has been grasped upon with glee by the anti-City bandwagon jumpers. Still, it makes a change to the usual "Mancini under pressure", "City ruining football", "City won't win the title" line. We're being talked about more than ever before in our history, so let's just get used to it.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I could think of better candidates to provide a character witness than Mark van Bommel. How's about getting Vinnie Jones, Roy Keane and Marco Materazzi's opinion too?!!

Lets ban tackling from the game completely and force players to wear protective clothing.
Another Newcastle player picture showing intent which Dejong showed none of.
