Manchester City Defensive Transfer Roundup: Toure, Lescott, Upson, Veloso & Mexes

While old red nose sits on his throne at the old swamp licking his wounds Manchester City are on the verge of aquiring Kolo Toure, seriously the brother of Yaya binks is apparently in the bag.

Now that John boy Terry has chosen to stay at home, many are predicting Mark Hughes will up his bid for Joleon Lescott, Everton are bracing themselves for an improved offer, they are all pacing infront of that fax machine waiting for that little green light to flash. You could feel the negativity emanating from Everton fans as John boy released his long awaited statement.

Also Matthew Upson has been thrown into the mix, at the ripe age of 30 he hardly seems a good choice to me so I think this is just a bit of old news from the Sven era or maybe its just a West Ham United fan wishing for City to come calling and dish them out a nice wedge of cash for an aging defender.

It has also been reported that Manchester City have held preliminary talks with Miguel Veloso's agent Paulo Barbosa, City only have Nigel De Jong in his position as Kompany is seen more as a central defender, some seem to think that Michael Johnson is a defensive midfielder but I can confirm he has never been such, Johnson is a box to box midfielder just like Stephen Ireland so Veloso would indeed be a good purchase at around £15 Million especially as he is only aged 23.

French Daily newspaper Le Parisien has reported that Manchester City have enquired about the availability of 27 year old Phillipe Mexes from Roma.
