The PFA Are A Joke, Kolo Toure Was Guilty Of Nothing More Than The Negligence Of The PFA

I brand them idiots due to the fact that the aims of the PFA are to protect, improve and negotiate the conditions, rights and status of all professional players only.

They pass the buck off onto the doctors of the players clubs, when it should be the PFA who provide a collective list of banned substances so that players can check for themselves.

Chief executive of the Professional Footballers Association Gordon Taylor quite effectively tells BBC Radio 5 live that Kolo Toure deserves what he calls 'proportionate' banning for taking diuretic which is not a performance enhancing drug but wait for it?

The drug Kolo took was nothing more than one of his wife's weight loss pills, OK its no biggy considering he will serve most of it in the off season and be back playing in September but that is not the point.

What made me laugh more than anything was what came next, as the woman interviewing Gordon asked why a player continuously exercising on a daily basis would want to take slimming pills. Gordon Taylor suggested it was players being vane, conscious of the way they look, despite the fact men start to put on weight far more quickly and easily once they hit their early 30s.

Another completely laughable comment from Gordon Taylor was, using Paddy Kenny as an example of how everything about their rules are peachy perfect.

Paddy Kenny sick with the flu took 'over the counter' flu medicine which had an illegal substance present, he passes Paddy's 9 month ban off as an ideal comparison to Kolo Toure only there was no mention of Rio Ferdinand what so ever.

The PFA are a shambles just like Fifa, it is the PFA's job to protect and serve professional footballers and they are doing a piss poor job at it.

  1. A devout Muslim given a 6-month punishment for taking performing enhancing drugs, I wonder how many years it would have been if it was Mario? Career suspension?

    Hilarious...
